Information Superhighway - Exit CLOSED!

I don't get it. I know that Florida is a major vacation spot ... but is it SO hard to get internet access out here? Does it REALLY cost $10 a day to get the internet out here? Do you have to ship it in from somewhere else? Does Florida pay taxes on it's internet? I just don't get it!

That's me and my camels, searching for the nearest Starbucks to at least get the internet for a little cheaper! ;)

This week in Tampa, FL!

So, last week we were in Tampa, FL - the first of a few weeks here in Florida. It's hot as hell!

So, I was taking over for our performance director this week cause she went off to get married! CONGRATS CHRISTA AND MIKE! So, that put me all in charge and shit!

Ugh, it was madness! It's hard being in an authoritive position. Whereas doing the show is physically tiring, this was mentally tiring. My brain hurt all week. Or maybe that was a hangover from all the alcohol? Who knows?

Anyway, I had a fun time. It was a great experience! Oh, and I got my own room for the weekend. YAH! Nothing better than running around the room naked! YEE HAW!

As far as Tampa, it was pretty calm. My friends Jay and Victor came into town, and they took me out around Tampa. I think I went to almost every gay bar in Tampa. OOF! So, it's nice to be back in my furry little costume, and to be able to sleep in! :)

...on Grey's Anatomy

Yah, this was my reaction to Grey's Anatomy last night! I LOVE THIS SHOW!

Our show ended at 8:30 last night, and I RAN home to watch it. It's so great! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Love it!

Grey's Anatomy - total A+!

Thoughts on hotels...

So, I've been living out of hotels for the last 3 1/2 years. I've stayed in really nice hotels - and I've stayed in really crappy hotels.

But you know what I hate? Hotels where things are extremely overpriced! Like, paying for the internet. EVERYONE uses the internet! It's like oxygen - everyone needs it! Why are you going to charge $10 a DAY for it? Seriously? That's not neccessary! I paid for it for the day - and it's SLOW! Fuckers!

The restaurants in hotels are insane, too! Like, $15 for a freaking burger. Insanity!

And must the housekeeping staff wake me up at 8 AM to clean my room?

I just don't understand! If you are thinking that most of your guests are here on vacation, DON'T wake them up early to clean their rooms! They want to sleep in! And if you think that most of your guests are here on business - DON'T charge for internet! ASSES!

Late night, double feature, picture show!

So, we found ROCKY HORROR! We are here in Tampa, and there is a movie theatre that plays RHPS every Friday night and they have the live people, too! So, Jeffo and I went after work last night and checked it out. It was cool! It was my first time with all the audience particitpation stuff! WILD! These people were pretty hardcore, and it was obvious that they check this out every week. But, I loved it. Very fun! Good times!

"Even smiling makes my face ache!"

I don't think you're ready, for this TIMMY!

Hey world of bloggers! This .... is Timmy! She fucking rocks! I met this girl when she auditioned for Sesame Street. She walked in late, but still rocked the audition! Also, her name is Timmy. Timothy acutally! Awesome, huh! Well, at the audition, we thought we were calling up a guy, then she comes up ... hilarity ensues!

Well, she got hired, and I'm on tour with her, and she rocks! She's got a great voice, and knows all SORTS of musicals! She's also a pretty fierce muppet for her first year! And she's a super cool person, too!

Yesterday, we walked around downtown Tampa exploring. There wasn't much to explore, but we had a good time, then we stuffed our faces with Indian food! Good times!

So, here is to Timmy! You go girl! No, really, you go! BYE!

And THIS week in ATLANTA, GA!

Well, this week we are in Atlanta! GO PEACHES! It's a fun place! Kinda sucks that we stayed in a downtown area - it's always seems to be filled with homeless people and a few crazies! So, kinda scary!

But, I had some friends who live here - Jon and Brad - and it was great seeing them again and hanging out. That's one of the things that I love about tour - I get to visit people that I never really get to see! I especially like this tour that I am on now, cause it is cities that I haven't been to before, so it's friends that I haven't seen in a WHILE! Check the website - I might be headed your way!

Anyway, this week was cool. I went to the Bodies exhibit, which was awesome. I saw Jon and Brad. I hung out with Shane, a girl that was on tour last year, and we had quite the adventure trying to find a gay bar! (BUY A FUCKING RAFFLE TICKET!!!)

I also got to call the show this week. Our performance director is leaving next week to go and get married, so she is passing the baton and I am filling in for her for the week. That means I get to call all the curtain cues, and take notes, and be in CHARGE! WOO HOO! Go me! HAHA!

So, that's Atlanta. We head to Tampa tomorrow to start our stint in FL for the next few weeks! And they just had an earthquake in FL! Oh lord!

LAST week in SOUTHHAVEN, MS!

Whoops! I forgot to blog about last week! Sorry!

So, we were in Southhaven, MS ... which is right down the road from MEMPHIS!! I went sightseeing around Memphis - went to the Stax Recording Studio, which is now a museum of soul music. I saw the hotel where Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot. We ate at the Arcade, which was one of Elvis' favorite places. We went to Beale Street one night - drank to celebrate Janice's birthday, and a few people got sick! Heehee! Amatures!

Anyway, had a blast in Memphis/Southhaven! WOO!

BODIES!!!

I'm a huge science geek! I loved science in school. I love going to children's museums or science centers! So, when I saw that "BODIES - The Exhibition" was in Atlanta, I was WAY excited. I had heard about this before, and I really wanted to see it.

If ya haven't heard of it, it is this awesome exhibit of real humans bodies that have been preserved and are on display to show the different systems of the body. We went and saw it this afternoon, and I must say that it was amazing. It was hard to believe that these were REAL bodies.

Here's the link to their website. It was really cool, so see if it is coming to a city near you, and if it is, CHECK IT OUT!!!

http://bodiestheexhibition.com

It's SO Raven!

Ok, I have a new addiction. It's the Disney Channel! For some reason, the TV always ends up on this channel at night. And I can't stop watching the rediculous shows that are on this channel!!!! I love Raven! I think a have a crush on the guy from "Phil of the Future!" UGH!

But, I did see something cool this morning. John Tartaglia is doing some little show for Playhouse Disney - which are the morning shows geared toward kids! Here's something I found on YouTube. The show is called "Johnny and the Sprites."

So, go check out the Disney Channel! It's SO Raven!

Seriously??

Ok, seriously? So, we have this joke going around on tour about these things. If you don't know what they are, they are latex fists - well, whole arms actually. They are sex toys. Oh yah, "this" goes in "there". Guys, too. Frightening, huh?

So, anyway, I'm sure alcohol was involved and now we talk about these things ALL THE TIME on tour. It's funny. I mean, if i had one of these, I'd use it to do other things. Like, knock on doors. Or to punch people in the face. Or to play rock-paper-scissors ... but I would probably lose, cause I'd always pick rock.

So, here's to fists. And all the different things you can go with them!

wanna die, makes you cry, and I did!

We all went sightseeing earlier this week. Well, before we headed home, we stopped in a little mall thing to use the restroom and check out a few shops. As we were waiting for everyone to meet back up, I got some Starbucks and sat around the fountain. Well, this little girl and her mom stopped at the fountain a few yards away from us. This little girl was obviously sick, and looked as though she had gone thru chemo. She carried with her a carryon-sized bag. I watched for a bit, and saw that she had tubes leading from under her shirt to the bag. Well, they sat down, and the mom started to open the bag, and change the girl's tubes.

It was so odd because it seemed so routine for them. The mom was even on her cell phone at times, and seemed to go through the motions without even thinking about it. The girl did look like she was in some pain, too.

As I was watching her, I just felt so sorry for her. But I was so proud of her. She seemed so courageous. I really wanted to go up to her and talk to her. I wondered how old she was. I wondered if she had friends that she hung out with, or did this limit the things that she could do. I wanted to invite her and her mom to come see our show. I wanted to give her a penny to throw into the fountain to make a wish. I just felt like I needed to do something for this girl.

Well, I almost got enough courage to do it, and walked near her. But her mom was fixing the tubes and I felt bad interrupting that. So we walked away and left. I hope that the little girl is doing well, and that she will be for many, many years. And I wish she new how much I admired her.

PHOTOSHOOT TIME!!!!

I did it. I bought a NEW digital camera. I finally got over the trauma of losing the past TWO that I had, and decided to buy another one. This one was only about $140 and then I got a memory card for it, so it ended up being about $200. Not too shabby! It's a pretty nice camera - so let's all pray that I can keep tabs on it! :)

Why do people insist on pissing me off? WHY?!? Why do you do stupid things? Why do you ask me stupid questions? I wanna know WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY!

Oh, another bad travel day!

Yup, another one!

So, it started with waking up at 5 AM Monday to pack my luggage and make it down to the bus for 6:45. Then we drove for about 2 or 3 hours to Detroit. So, get to the airport, where we are flying Airtran. Well, there is only 2 people working at the counter, so when all 30 of us come piling off the bus, we create a line that extends all the way to the door. Insane!

So, I get up there, and of course I have to shift things in my bags cause one is heavier than the other. Not a big deal. Make it through security. All is swell.

So, get to the gate. Now, the only places to get something to eat are Starbucks and Quizno's. I decide to just wait until our 2 hr layover in Atlanta, and just get some Starbucks.

So, the plane is a little late, so the gate agent is yelling at us to get on the plane quickly and whatnot. So, we start boarding the plane. Well, the plane kinda starts to shift while we are getting into our seats. See, they loaded the luggage a little too far back or something, and that with the added weight of us getting on the plane messed up the balance on the plane. So, they ask us to get out of our seats, and simply WALK to the front of the plane to even it out.

Well, it didn't work. The shifting weight caused the plane and the jetway to move in opposite directions, messing up the cabin door. Meaning we had to get OFF of the plane, and wait for a new plane to arrive. Well, that only took 5 HOURS! So, I had MORE Starbucks, and some Quizno's, met some fun people in the airport, and finally got on a flight to Atlanta.

Well, that flight was ok, until we hit some bad weather, and the plane hit some rough turbulence, and we kinda fell out of the air a bit. Well, we all jumped up and freaked out a little. Then we circled in the air for 30 min or and hour before we finally landed in Atlanta. We would have missed our connecting flight if it wouldn't have been delayed!

Well, we finally made it to Memphis. Ugh, what a travel day!

This week in Grand Rapids, MI!

So, here we are, in Grand Rapids, MI! Well, not much has been going on here. We had kitchenettes this week, so I played chef! I cooked meals for Jeff and I, and made some good shit!

But we did also hit up this great Mongolian barbeque place called BD's. It was awesome. Usually, you get noodles in your bowl and everything, but here, you just did all the meats and stuff, and then they brought rice and tortillas to your table! Oh I loaded UP on food! It was so good, we went there twice, and I think Jeff went back for a third trip!

Besides that, Grand Rapids was pretty calm. I'm waiting until we get to some better cities to go and enjoy the town! We did have some fun times here. We went to Denny's one night and had a great waitress named Cinnamon. She was this wild black woman, but a hell of a waitress!

There was also a 24 hr Dunkin Donuts/ Baskin Robins! There is nothing better than a half a dozen of chocolate covered, creme filled dounts at midnight!

So, we are off to Southhaven, MS - which is really close to Memphis! Woo hoo! I think I am going to splurge a little bit and buy a new digital camera so I can take some pictures and post them on here! Hopefully I won't lose this one!

Goodbye Grand Rapids!!

Suddenly I'm Miss Midwest Midnight Checkout Queen!

I had to go grocery shopping. I didn't have anything to eat for tomorrow, and I was lazy yesterday and slept instead of going. So, I went tonight ... around midnight-ish! It was awesome! There were only about 2 or 3 other people shopping. It was quiet, and easy to get around! I loved it! So, a big ol' shout out to Meijers for staying open 24-7 so procrastinators can get groceries too! :)

Let's get PHYSICAL!!!

Now that I am back on tour, there isn't much to do. Well, there is, but it all cost money! Everyone else is going to get lunch at "insert food chain here" or going to the mall AGAIN!

Well, since I am trying to save money, I've decided to do the gym thing. Working out doesn't cost anything - thanks to the lovely ticket trades we do with gyms so we can work out for free! And Jeff and I are cooking in, which is not only a good way to save money, but also allows us to cook healthier stuff!

And with Halloween coming along, it can't hurt to have a hot little body to barely cover up with a costume! ;)

So, this guy is my new inspiration. I'm going put on my leotard and leg warmers!

These past few weeks in Fargo, ND!

So, I've been in Fargo the past few weeks opening the new tour. Well, it's just been a lot of rehearsals and whatnot. We finally opened the show this week, and all went well. The office people were pleased, and everyone was happy!

So, we are now headed to Grand Rapids, MI! It's nice to finally get moving and "on the road." We've pretty much done all Fargo has to offer - which isn't very much!

So, goodbye to the myspace lounge - which is actually the lobby because the internet in our rooms is crap. Goodbye to the Cashwise and the liquor store. Goodbye to the Dairy Queen! Goodbye to late nights drinking on the patio in front of the hotel! Goodbye Fargo!

Thursday, August 17, 2006

It's the day of the show, y'all!

So, tomorrow is opening night! Thank the Lord! We've been rehearsing for about 2 weeks now, and I am ready to just get in the routine of doing shows again. Rehearsals wear me out! We've been doing 2 full costume runs a day ALL WEEK! We've done 7 full costume runs this week already, and we have 5 shows this weekend! UGH! I am so tired!

But, everyone is doing a great job, and everyone is pleased with the way things are, so it's all good! Ooh, I can't wait until our first day off!

So, go check out http://www.sesamestreetlive.com to find out if I am coming to a city near you!!!

Oh, and that is what I am wearing to the opening night party! Isn't it grand? ;)

So, I've been thinking. A dangerous pasttime, I know! haha...

Anyway, I have been. About everything. Love. Career. Friends. Everything.

And I'm lost. In some situtations, I am not sure if I want to go back to what was, or move forward into something new. Or I know I have to move forward, but I don't know where forward is. It's all just so confusing sometimes.

I know that overall, I want to be happy. Things don't have to be perfect - just enough to keep me happy. I think that I am in a transitional place right now. Like a springboard to the future. I know where I am is going to help me get to where I need to be, so I guess I just need to stick it out now, and know in the back of my head that things will be better.

I guess my fork in the road is a spoon. Or maybe a spork?

The ffurry feeling of the day is ... SAD!

I hate bad moods. I hate being in a bad mood. I hate other people in bad moods. I just hate it.
As you can probably tell, I am currently in a bad mood. I hate when I get like this. I just dwell on the bad mood, making it worse. And I don't want to be social, even though I know that getting out would probably be GOOD for me. UGH!
So, I am taking my bad mood out for dinner with the cast, and maybe I can kill it by drowning it in sangria! Hmph!

Rum Drunk Drunker!

Have I ever mentioned how much I like Malibu? Last night, a few of the cast kids got together and drank a little but because we didn't have rehearsal until 1:30 the next day. Janice, my new tour lesbian, and I got Malibu. I love it. She mixed it with cranberry and a hint of pineapple. I mixed mine with OJ. Fun times!

Good clean fun!

So, today was our first day off - and it was well deserved! Well, a bunch of us decided that it would be fun to go to the beach. I know, you are thinking - where the hell is there a beach in Fargo, ND? Well, there is a lake about an hour away, and they have a man-made beach. Good enough for us!

So we drive the hour to get to the beach. Now, the weather has been bright and sunny for weeks. OF COURSE today the weather takes a turn for the worse, and it starts raining the minute we put our towels down!

Well, we all packed back into the car. We drove around for a bit, then just decided to go eat lunch. After that, we checked out this HUGE T-shirt sale going on, then we just went home. What a fun day off adventure!

Oh, but the best part ... There was a huge country music festical going on. Well, people were using this lake to bathe. We saw many people with their shower gel just lathering up in the lake, and there was even one guy shaving. INSANE!

Back on tour...

Ok, so, I'm back on tour. Rehearsals are going well. We learned the show in 4 days, and it looks really good. I'm sore as all get out - that's what I get for sitting on my ass for 3 weeks! Everyone seems pretty cool. But then again, it's just the beginning of tour ...

But, I'm already annoyed. See, we've got about 6 black people on tour. And it seems like they only hang out with each other. For instance, the other day, I get home from work, and "the blacks" - yah, that's what I'll call them - were all in the hot tub, while the whites were COMPLETELY on the other side of the pool area in the pool. HELLO! Segregation ended a LONG time ago people!

Then, last night, the cast went out to dinner - and they all sat on one side of the table. I mean, really?

So, that's that. It's only 3 months, so I don't want to stress out too much.

Splish Splash!

I fucking washed my phone! It was in the pocket of a pair of jeans, and it totally went thru the washing machine! FUCK!

It was on when it went in. I've had friends who've done the same thing, so I didn't turn it on or anything. I just took the battery off and I'm letting it dry out. I have my old phone, so I just put my SIM card in that one, and will use that one for a while so the other can dry out.

Any other suggestions?

Sucker punched!

Ok, I'm really confused. It seems that everyone around me is running hot and cold. One day, everything is all great and everyone is happy and friendly. The next, everyone is mad at me and I'm a total bitch. I don't get it.

Is it me? I know that my sudden departure to go back on tour has its effect. I've kinda shifted priorities. A friend of mine said that going on tour is me running from intimacy. No, going on tour is me making money!

I don't want to hurt anyone, or leave on a bad note. I'm coming back in 3 months, and I don't want to come back to issues that have been festering for months!

Can't we all just get along?

A brief lesson for dramatic queers....

This

is not the same as this!

Please note the difference before you go tell someone (who we will call Fag A) 's boyfriend that I was making out with their boyfriend. Actually, Fag A was completely wasted and kept asking me to "kiss him like a whore" - which I'm really not sure what that is anyway. I kissed him on the cheek. I do believe he might have licked me, but I'm sure I was frightened by the whole thing.

For the record, I don't like gay people.

GAY PEOPLE - F!!!!

Too little, too latte!

So, guess who called Monday morning asking if I could come in for an interview?

Yep, Starbucks! Of course they want to give me a job AFTER I said I would go back on the road for 3 months! OOF!

Well, I did tell the lady that I would still be interested, and she said just to come back in when I return! WOO HOO!

Maybe I'll be slinging coffee after tour?

Drama

Why do gay people have to be so dramatic? Especially relationships.

I would like to recount a little tale of some gays I know. Let's call them Kyle and Bruce.

So, Kyle and Bruce are young, attractive gay men. So naturally, they met and probably had sex on the first night. Well, this now means that they are in a serious relationship and are now dating exclusively. Well, for at least a few days, or until the next big "going out" night.

Then they go on this break up/ get back together thing for a while. They even have it planned out, saying "Oh, we'll probably break up by the end of the week." Well, after being apart for the first past of the week, they ignore each other at the bar on Saturday, but end up together by 2AM.

Or how about these other guys in the bar? One who has this crazy shit in his hair that glows in the black light, and unfortunately, it's not just in his hair, but all over his forehead, too. So embarrassing! Well, I've noticed that the past two weeks, he's ended up in some dark corner, totally sucking face with usually 2 guys at the same time, hands a-groping and whatnot. Very classy. Well, last night, I think his drugs went bad, cause all of a sudden he was on the ground crying and went out the back door! Madness!

Fascinating, isn't it? People, I can't handle this. I mean, seriously? Do you really think this is a healthy situation?

Please gather all personal issues, and exit to your right!

And your next challenge is...

... Make Miss USA look like a lop-sided booby tree trunk. The dress was weird.

Well, now Malan can go explore other careers, such as homicidal maniac or child molester. He was way weird.

And once more, in case you didn't get it ... WEIRD!

Caving in...

So, I got a message today. I got offered to go back on tour.

I said yes.

I need the money, as I don't have a job at the moment. It's the same role I just did, so I already know the show. I'll lose the few pounds I've put back on being home. It's only for a few months. It's with people I like.

I know - it's a step backwards. But ... it's a job. And at least I am doing something in the career I'd want to be doing. Not making lattes or getting peole drunk - although I do kinda want to do that.

Your thoughts?

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

What are you having???

So, I went and got my temporary bar card today. That's a card so I can legally serve and sell alcohol! So, with that, I am off to the local gay bar to see if I can get a job getting the gays drunk! WOO HOO!

Wish me luck, and I'll keep ya all posted!

PSA!

So, when's the last time you got tested? After lots of time on the road, and traveling so much, it always kinda scared me that I didn't have a regular doctor to go to ... for anything. I really could have used one when my allergies took over my face in California! UGH!
So, when I got home, I went to the doctor for a check up. He said I looked fine, but we did some bloodwork because my family has a horrible history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and pretty much everything else. And I asked him if I could get an HIV test, too. Hey, you're taking my blood, you might as well go all the way!
Well, a few days later - all clear! So, go get tested. I just had to get pricked with a needle and pee in a cup ... which was TOTALLY wierd! I'm sure the regular clinics do the mouth swab thingie! So, go get tested!
Maybe this guy will be there! ;)

Lou'siana Saturday Night!

Yah, so I went out last night. A friend of mine was in town from Denver, CO , so I felt that I need to go out and say hi. I know how it is to be in a city that you are not really familiar with, so I joined him out for a drink.

Well, it amazes me how many people know me. Thanks to the very close-knit gay community of Lafayette and the amazing powers of myspace, I knew a fair amount of people in the bar.

So, it was a fun night of a few free drinks, a little dancing, and lots of watching the tragedy known as the gay scene in Lafayette.

But, overall, a fun night. I was talking to a friend of mine, who seems to know EVERYONE in Lafayette. He said keep your friends close and your enemies closer - a theory I agree with whole-heartedly! So, I'll network and get to know everyone. That way I always have someone to talk to in the bar, I'll get invited to everything, and if I DO get that job bartending ... everyone will come to me.

I just need to work on remembering people's names. I am horrible about that! :)

I KNOW she can dance!

So, this is Allison Holker. She is a contestant on "So You Think You Can Dance?" She is FIERCE! She should totally win!

That's all!

IT'S A MIRACLE!

Get this video and more at MySpace.com

So, I drove to Pigeon Forge, TN this past weekend to see my friend Joey in "The Miracle." It's a Broadway-style show about the life of Jesus Christ.

Well, it was cute. I, personally, giggled a lot - mainly cause people were singing about Jesus, and also at the fact that Joey awas dancing for Jesus.

But overall, the performers were good - some lovely voices! Jesus had a hot body. Overall, entertaining!

The funny part is that the guy that played Adam - as in Adam and Eve - is quitting so they have an imediate opening. Joey wanted me to audition, but I don't think I could do this show with a straight face!

Fags and friends...

So, I am currently in Pigeon Forge, TN visiting my good friend Joey. I know, why the hell am I here. Well, that's another post all together!

Anyway, while he is away at work, I watched this movie today on Logo - the gay cable channel! Loves it!

Well, I've seen this movie before, and it is lovely. It's all about friendship, and faggotry! It's a great movie.

And here's a lovely quote... slighty paraphrased! ;)

"People ask me when I knew I was gay. I can't say, blah blah blah. But I know when I knew it was ok. It's when I met these guys - my friends."

Aww!

...on getting older.

Isn't it weird how people change? You don't see someone for a while, and sometimes it's like the years mean nothing, and you can pick up right where you started. But other times, it's like you never really knew each other to begin with.

Or, you wake up one day, and suddenly you feel older. Not physically, but mentally, too? Like you hold conversations with people, and you feel like you are living in a completely different world than everyone else?

When did we grow up?

CURRY-out or delivery?

Ok, so you all know that I love to eat! Well, thanks to Miss Mary-Elizabeth Milton, I have been introduced to Indian cuisine - AND I LOVE IT!

We went out a few times for Indian, and it's great! I have enjoyed it every time, and have pretty much stuffed myself silly!

Sad news - I have yet to find one here in Lafayette! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!!!

UPDATE! : I think I may have found it! There is a place called Mona's Cafe - it's middle eastern cuisine. I'll let you all know!

.... IN BED!

Don't you just love fortune cookies? It's always a good time at the end of your take-out to sit around and read what your fortune says ... then add IN BED to the end, and they get even better!

Well, I've had a few that I keep in my wallet, cause they were really good fortunes. Here they are...

"Friends long absent are coming back to you" - I got this one right before I went to Holland. Which was cool, because I was really looking forward to seeing those guys again - and some of my best friends were on that tour. I also have a friend that I had not seen in about 6 months come to visit me - so it was a great fortune!

"Family is more valuable than money" - A great fortune to get on the road when you are away from your family for 11 months! :)

"Fame is in your future" - I got this one the last week of tour. Here I am, leaving a job that I have had for 3 years, with no definate plans ahead, and I get that fortune! Crazy huh?

So, enjoy your fortune cookies! Thank you - come again!
